May 21: Utö – bench tour 2
We continued our tour as the sun set and the twilight started to deepen.
Along the shore from the western end of Kattrumpan toward the village.
The dock at its alarmingly jaunty angle.
Near-sunset over the Havshotel.
Church sunset.
Sun about to be shrouded by clouds as we continue To the Lighthouse.
We took another look at the gallery; the underlighting seemed much stronger at that point because of the dimmed daylight.
Hellstairs!
The lighthouse rendered deep blue in the late light.
The lighthouse bench nestled into a rock just to the south, with the sun, almost aligned with the bench, now at 10:05 PM actually setting on the horizon: my last sunset in Finland (to date).
Wave diffraction patterns offshore.
I always wonder how far away those still-illuminated clouds just above the horizon are in a maritime sunset.
Pilot station layer cake.
The secret stairs down to the village road, now with Added Twilight Mystery.
The evening view from the village bench.
A roof almost meeting the ground, right nearby.
Back at the hostel courtyard.
Another, extra-contemplative bench, out on a pier near the hotel.
A land-art-like array of old concrete posts and other masses.
ALL the towers, peeking over the building on the south side of the courtyard.
The sauna building in the fading light.
Twilight through the slat shed, 10:40 PM.
