April 23: Southern Finland tour – Chapel of the Resurrection, Turku
The other chapel in the cemetery was the Resurrection Chapel by Erik Bryggman, completed in 1941.
The first glimpse.
The approach, up gentle steps.
Kewl doorz.
I think these are maybe actual holes in the floor.
Crazy light happenings.
Plaster corrugation, an unusual touch.
Passage from the main chapel into a reception room to the side.
Subtle steps up to the altar.
A quite solid pulpit.
These vines growing up toward the light are probably the most iconic element in the chapel.
More subtle steps.
A view of the whole apse.
The outside wall.
The back side.
Shadowy tower.
Boulder courtyard.
The refuge/outlook created by the boulders was probably my favorite space in the whole cemetery.
These tower stairs were a really neat place as well.
More boulder/tree modalities.
A look back upon departure.
