April 23–24: Southern Finland tour – Turku downtown
A miscellany from the streets.
A subdued example of Turku Jugend.
A rather more exuberant example of Turku Jugend.
Turku's Kauppatori (market square), the central square. The rotunda building is the Orthodox church.
As in Helsinki, downtown is quite a mix of classical, Jugend, and modern.
On each night of the tour we stayed in the local Omena ("apple") Hotel, a somewhat odd but quite convenient and cheap self-service hotel chain.
The next morning: bright sun on the Metalworkers' Union building across the street.
Lots of verticals, plus some pretty cool hanging streetlights.
Saabtrailer !
Morning at the rope factory.
