May 12: Porvoo cathedral
After checking out the library, we continued through some more of the old town and went into the cathedral again, as the service we had been wary of disturbing before was over by then.
The sun looks almost overhead by now. Not bad.
Nice bangs.
Roundhouse.
Tall barn is tall.
A fancy arched carriageway.
Midlife crisis gangster car. Pretty sweet.
The nave and apse of the cathedral.
The pews are either painted with some industrial-strength paint or are made of plastic, or both.
Lovely vaults, sort of flowerlike.
Quite the pulpit.
More pews.
The peak of the apse vault looks like maybe it was scorched a little in the roof fire.
Quite the organ.
Really nice inlays in maybe the church plaza.
Slope down...
...slope up.
In a nearby square there was some kind of medieval or Renaissance performance getting going.
We stopped at a patisserie there and I got this scrumptious bilberry thing.
More cobbles and claps.
Birdy drama sky.
The lower sign means "old-fashioned paint shop" but it also sounds like a restaurant and inside it looks like a gift shop ????
Another yard peek.
Some doily furniture.
Porvoo Jugend.
